I served in the Indian Army for 39 years, starting in 1969 and retiring in 2006.
During my tenure, I received honors from the President of India for my
performance in war zones. As a Brigadier in South Kashmir, I led 3000 troops and
was wounded in an encounter with foreign terrorists but chose to remain in
command, achieving exceptional results. I also served as teaching faculty at
prestigious military academies like the National Defence Academy and the Defence
Services Staff College.
Following command roles in Rashtriya Rifles and a T-72 Tank Brigade, I attended
the National Defence College and undertook international visits. Subsequently, I
worked in the Military Operations Directorate at Army Headquarters, accompanying
the Army Chief on international visits and being a reserve for a United Nations
Forces leadership role. I also played a significant role in museum and memorial
projects, upgrading the 1 SIKH War Memorial, establishing the Ibadat-e-Shahadat
cultural-cum-war museum, and creating an orphanage. Finally, as Chief of Staff
of 9 Corps, I contributed to the conceptualization and creation of the Yol War
Museum before retiring. I hold multiple master's degrees and M.Phils, have
authored and edited books, and contribute articles to newspapers and military
publications, totaling over 300 articles.
